Growing up

Born in a Luo family in the Rift-Valley of Kenya, I spent my early years in this part of the country, doing what every child did.

Trekking to school in the wee hours of the morning, carrying the few books in a plastic bag that wrapped the bread we ate yesterday.   Talk of recycling and so it was.

We loved foot-ball, which was made of plastic papers tied nicely with strings. And when we were not at that, it was time for hide and seek.
